Looks like Wally leaning against the parked car. Is that picture from a Leave it to Beaver episode?

That's awesome, now find a pic of Lumpy's 40 convert, I own one because of watching that show when I was a kid. Somewhere I saw a pic of it in color and it was purple, anybody got a shot?

I'll retract my shit box. It's an inexpensive, fast, pile... of parts. I do like traditional cars. And antiques. And race cars... and trains and planes. And big gray ships with LOTS of guns with names that start with USS. Gary

Note the year on the license plate...1947. Back then there were no billet parts, no disk brakes, few if any speed shops, no real mail order parts catalogs, very little in the way of over the shelf parts. This, my friend, is a TRUE jalopy. You had to scrounge parts and make 'em work. This rod has as much imagination and builder skill as was generally available back then. Don't slam it, this is our past. Our beginning.

I wish I could have put my post in this good of words. I saw many home build hot rods and race cars in the early to mid 50s. these guys did the best with what they had access too.
