I was going to do another race report but as I've posted before, 'the best way to break a drought is hold a drag meet'. Yep, we got washed out. Last weekend was the Day Of The Drags in Sydney, a 2 hour drive, washed out after 2 runs. This weekend, Gunnedah Week of Speed Drags, a 4 hour drive , washed out after 1 day. It's a 2 day event with test 'n tune on the Saturday, qualifying and eliminations Sunday. I'm still trying to work out if the change to 15'' rears was a good move from the 14" I was using. My theory was a slightly larger footprint would help with traction but would change the final gearing to enable a bit of lag on takeoff, therefore, less wheelspin. At first, it didn't seem to make an ounce of difference to spin but I picked up a few M.P.H.. After a couple of runs, with the track warming up things got better. Traction was better and the gearing allowed me to rev it out in second gear without detonating the engine. I'll post a few videos that we did manage to take before the weather turned to shit. (As disappointing as it was to us racers, the rain was welcomed by the drought stricken locals, so you can be disappointed but not angry). This was against a tricked up Turbo Ford, made him earn the win. The next 2 are against a stroked Chev powered Torana. I had him at the 60' but allowed him to pull in front. Unfortunately this is all I have. Hopefully I can get to Casino Drags in a fortnight (a 6 hour drive North)
Thanks bobw. At the moment it is running pretty sweet. I'd like to be able to run a full meeting with it.
