I have this '32, has old merc flatty. I drove it once and parked it in the barn. I like my vision of these trucks but mine has some bad funky mojo and I think I'll let it sit fo many years...

  3. Might be an improvement to put the bed on backwards and adjust the wheelbase.

  4. Getting the stance worked out!

I am building a 1930 a fordor and also putting a olds 324 but was going to use the hydramatic that came stock behind it. I saw that someone said the hydro was a problem. What issues can I expect? ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1391355231.958250.jpg

heres a few more vintage pics of the truck, and some paperwork the builder had got when he entered it into the GSTA rod and Custom car show that it its going to back at 51 years later!

Super cool history. I think you guys are doing the truck justice by correcting some of the wonky workmanship while still keeping the truck intact as a whole.

    Any plans for a tailgate?

You are doing right by the old girl. She deserves to see many miles pass under her front axle. Keep posting the progress.

The Hydro isn't the problem in it's self. the problem is that the shear bulk of the hydro requires serious mods on older chassis to get it to fit. In this case the X member was pretty well butchered to get it in place. That was common in the 60's but not what the majority of us want to do now. If you were building a custom frame you would build it around the hydro and it wouldn't be an issue.

It's good to see that truck getting put back together right but not getting wholesale changes done to it. Mostly doing it the way a builder with a bit more vision, knowledge and skill might have done it in the 60's with a bit or lot more patience to see it through.

Actually the motor is going to be black, the motor that came with the truck had gotten water in it somehweres along the lines and was junk, so the orange motor thats in it is the replacement but still needs to be painted.
