I have Hagerty and love it. And affordable. But if any insurance co. that has my money starts playing games, or changing underwriters, I'd be moving it in a hurry. Last thing you want is a claim with a company in change like that and you have no knowledge of their underwriting philosophy, or the back room conversations about what to do with their newly acquired classic car division. I used to be an underwriter with a company that went from an A rating to a C in a matter of months. Run don't walk.
Try CHROME from Anpac. Excellent coverage, great price and provides lots of extras and things other companies dont. For instance, under construction, spare parts, flatbed towing, etc etc.
I have had American Collector Ins. for years with no problems. Even had one collision claim with Model A pickup and things went very smoothly.
I just emailed the person that handled my switch from Hagerty to Grundy. She said the concerns here might be just some sort of glich from the transition. But she says Philly's still in control. They bought out Grundy, and that has not changed
I just got Grundys a couple of days ago for my model a, The paperwork they sent said classic under writers on it.
Got my E Mail confirming Jim Grundy is back in control yesterday. Great Co. should be even better now.
Just paid this years premium on my '53 Studebaker with Grundy Worldwide. The billing date was 3/25/12 through Philadelphia Ins. Co. Have not received any e-mail regarding changes. ...
I have Grundy and could not be more satisfied with their SERVICE http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=690932&showall=1 My all steel Henry Ford 1932 Ford roadster burnt March the 27th of this year. One month later I have a check for a agreed price with no hassle. The 32 will be rebuilt.
Why are some people getting e-mails and some not--I have Grundy and haven't heard anything from them??
While Hagerty is GREAT they are more expensive when comparing apples to apples with Grundy, Phil Indem, and American Collectors.
Too bad about your Deuce, but great that Grundy has taken care of your loss. I'm a bit more reassured about Grundy now, with your posting. ...
I agree, I have 3 cars insured with high values, high liability and the cost is under 800 a year.........not worth saving 100 for one oh f moment
I am glad to hear they are doing well ! We do need good insurance companies for our cars & trucks ! I am with Hagerty but hope I never have to make a claim . I wish that one on no one with Historic cars & trucks ! I got Hagerty because my regular car and home insurance carries their insurance for the Historic automobiles . I also got a discount with my other plans as well . Have my 55 Ford insured for a price and will replace it if stolen or destroyed . Retro Jim
I agree. With 2 kids driving I have 6 cars insured. I went 8 months with no insurance on the 40. The car is secure except for an act of god. I'll shop around now. The insurance industry is ripping us all off anyway. They should be insuring the person not each car he or she drives. Just like life insurance you should be able to pick your coverage amount and they can look at your records and assess the risk.
Denise is right. I pay $ 175 a year for $25K agreed value on my 27 with Grundy and my Son pays $ 300 a year for the same coverage with Haggerty on his T bucket. We called Grundy and they only want $ 300 a year for $60K coverage on my other Sons RPU. Although I have never had a claim with Grundy (or anyone else ever) it was nice to hear that Deuce Roadster had such a painless claim experience with them. Don
I talked to one of the claims people. The changes made by Philly just pissed people off and they are going back to seperating the classic policies/claims from the regular business. This was recent so it make take just a little time to get things smoothed back out.
......Gary, I may have gotten it, not because I'm a long time customer, but because at some point I signed up for Grundy's monthly e-mail delivered newsletter that Becky used to put together. She used to be on here occasionally and would answer questions, but haven't seen her post in quite a while............Don.
Jeff, I have 5 cars insured with Grundy; which all were on a Farmers policy. Grundy made some changes last year, now they will insure your daily driver; which was a deal maker for me. Call them and get a quote.
Going through Larry at Heritage, I'm with Philadelphia/Grundy with my truck and Corvette, with the agreed value policies. I'm happy with the price and coverage. No claims so far and hope it stays that way.
I use Hagerty, no complaints as of yet. I like that they will find parts for you if you ever have an accident.
I have been with Grundy for many years, always pleased. Phily service is crap. It took me 9 days to get a new ins card for a new vehicle, and only after spending a whole am calling them. The first one they sent me had the wrong year for expiration date, was already expired. Then they overcharged me. I told them I was not pleased, and she admitted that grundy was taking the Co back. If the service doesn't go back to what is was, I am changing companies.
From what I understand, Grundy maintained control of the Massachusetts and So. Carolina policies during the period when Philly took over. I went with Grundy when they became the first classic insurance writer to cover liability in Mass. No claims, but their other customer service has been great.
I am thinking about insuring my 49 Ford Coupe through Grundy... This is good to know. I got a quote from them and Hagerty and for some reason Grundy was almost half the price as Hagerty and not sure why...???
Have been with Hagerty the last 10 years.Totally happy with their service and rates. Some are saying Grundy is half what Hagerty quotes? That makes me wonder a little.I was told by friends they were somewhat competetive with each other.I just perferred to support the one in my state.
