He probably lives as close to you as he does me. ;) I've loved that car since the first time I saw it here on the HAMB. Saturday night there was a small show at the local Chevy dealership and I decided to swing by at the last second...........I couldnt believe the Grenade was sitting there in the lot. It's almost like running into an old friend even though I'd never seen it in person before. Its cool to see a car up close that has so much HAMB history and that I have admired in magazines and on my computer screen for years. I introduced myself to hawkerdriver and was happy to find out he was a HAMBer. We must have talked for 45 minutes about the car and Hot Rods in general. The Grenade is in good hands........that car is a beast.

Since it's name is "Green Grenade" I'm staying with green but not the usual, How about that Jeep color?

I wouldn't paint it green just because of it's name. "Green grenade" is in reference to a live grenade. Live grenades are green, grenades used for training are blue...

I always wanted to paint it dark red.

Would be nice to see that car finished one day. I'm totally seeing that red but in a dark maroon shade with those cream wheels. That would be cool....although I am not sure it would give that nasty look the bare metal give it. Dark blue with cream wheels might do it.

In my head I do. What are you looking for exactly? It's got a long-bell Hemi with an alternator driven off of a pulley that is between the crank and flexplate. It also has a TH700-R4. My Dad shortend the bellhousing to fit the long-bell Hemi. It's also got a hidden water pump...

If you paint it, don't go with green...you'll lose the appeal of the name. I think you should leave it bare metal, because I plan to build one just like it, only painted like Kris was going to do before he started building the 'A' roadsters.

  21. The engineering on that part of it still floors me.

Hey Hawk - What size wheel/tires are you running? They fill the wheel well nice and give that 32 frame a nice stance!

    No baffles in those headers?

I honestly can't imagine driving an unmuffled car anywhere but a race track for more than a few minutes. The decibel level would begin to annoy me that quickly.

Yeah, I suppose that makes me a wuss (or something), but I've lost enough of my hearing already and I'd really like to preserve the rest for as long as I can.

Am I the only one here who feels that way? I dunno.

Before I picked the car up i bought a box of foam ear plugs (praise Harbor Freight). It helps...sorta.
Unless its to pull it out of the shop or just up the street, I use the plugs. My wife is already bitching because I say "Huh"? more often since I got it.
