I was searching for "edmunds heads" on Ebay, and found this auction. Car has a flathead Caddy engine with Edmunds heads on it, but the body itself is what caught my eye.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Edmunds-Alu...alvage_Parts_Cars&hash=item2a328e67b1&vxp=mtr

The engine is too early for the body style, but it's the body's proportions and "swoopyness" that I really like. It just FLOWS!
Execution was pretty bad, but the design is really good.

I love the way the front fenders flow down, and the Caddy rear quarters are such a huge part of the cockpit design.

This would be a worthy car to copy... with a Tri-power 390 Caddy engine though.

(and if someone could do a better job of posting these pics than I just did, I think it'd be good to have these images saved on the HAMB)

That thing looks pretty rad....what it lacks in execution it makes up for in style and creativity. I can only imagine how much $$$$$$ it would take to get that thing together!

it's difficult to get a feel for the size of that beast. is it little like an mg or huge like a caddy. we need a shot of someone standing next to it.

Looks like '48 body pieces, so flathead would be correct

  9. Just a guess, but I think closer to Caddy than MG judging by the wheels/tires.

  11. i think it could be cool when it is done.
what is the dash out of? i like the wild speaker cover.

  12. There's a real sense of history here, not a pro in a shop full of craftsmen, but a guy in his garage with a few tools and a stack of Rodding & Restyling magazines. Bummer that life got in the way and it didn't get finished.

I would definitely run the flathead, nothing wrong with that in this car.

Dash looks homemade. Speaker cover looks like the bottom of a collander or something.

The ad indicates it has an automatic. I wonder whether it's a hydro or a dynaflow, can't see the carburator linkage close enough to tell if it has throttle pressure linkage or not. Also, no title. That will be a nightmare to get straightened out at mvd. But, cool car in any event.

Look like it's probably a cut-down 46-47 Buick with 48-49 Cadillac rear fenders along with the powertrain from '48 or earlier Cad. Wasn't the early Hydramatic available in the postwar flathead-equipped Cads?

starting on 1941 models in Cads, the made quite a few before shutting down for the war

It does look like a buick/cad conglomeration, with lots of custom panels thrown in for good measure. Wonder what the trunk is....

  17. Trunk looks like early 40's Buick coupe.

  18. you could be right but the steering column hole cuts through what looks like another hole and the large hole with nothing in them makes me think it was repurposed. compressor maybe?

That looks like it was built by someone with a great eye for design even if they might have been a tad short on skills at the time. I've always thought that it would be interesting to take someone's leftover parts car from that time period and build one like that.

Maybe it's a long lost prototype from the GM Futurama - :)
    http://www.flickr.com/groups/futuramarama/pool/?view=sq

it has the general style and proportions of the early 50s GM show cars
and the 1938 Buick Y Job concept car:
