Hot Rods Great car lost

Just saw this on FB posted by Laura Hotrodmama SanGiovanni:

"If anyone is wondering why I am posting all these photos of the 1034 Maine Barons racecar.... It was destroyed in a fire on Friday, along with the Hanson's business Thinking of you all"

MANY of you know the car from Maxton, Wilmington, Loring and Bonneville:
I copied this off of the LandSpeed site.

 

Too bad, hate too loose any of them let alone a persons business.

 

Sad news. Watched it run many times at Bonnieville, it was always one of my favorites.

Hopefully it can be restored. I rememeber a thread on here a few years ago about a '40 coupe that had been through a shop fire and was burned badly. The owner ran into the usual problems (fire-hardening of the steel, etc.), but it came out looking good, as I remember.

Sorry to hear about the business, let alone the car. But these days all you need is a vin number and a radiator cap to build an "authentic" copy. I hope it gets resurrected. Gary

That is so very sad, the car is so very cool and wreaks with style !

 

I saw that car run at bonneville in 2008.

Myself and a group of buds drove out there for the 60th, it was pretty cool driving from Boston to bonneville and seeing a car from Maine run on the salt.

Really sucks that the car was destroyed. It's like losing a family member.

That is horrible. Hopefully nobody was hurt in the fire. I believe that car was at New England Dragway for the hotrod reunion, what a sin

I had no idea it was that gone!

 

That is not going to buff out- sad to see it gone - I hope no one was injured.

The passenger inside door panel was not in the garage.

 

Seems to be a very huge complex that was completely lost?

 

That's just horrible.

 

A terrible story but a reminder to us all about having good insurance on your cars.
It doesn't replace the car but it helps take some of the sting out!

Sam was a good friend back in the founding days of the Down East Street Rod Organization. So very sorry to hear that She Bad Too is gone. We all remember him well and loved him dearly.

 

Sad news, that was a very intense fire based on the pics. Seen the car run many times at Bonneville.

 

Where is the rest of it? The body appears to have evaporated! Damn shame.
