This weekend, Dad and I installed the Grancor heads we picked up a few months ago. To do this on my car we needed to remove the supercharger so I took a little longer than others. We started on Saturday late morning, work most of the day Sunday, and finished it up Monday night. After a few small problems the car is back running again! I just got back from the first drive. It has a deeper sound and seems to run a little smoother. I can't wait to get it out and see if anyone knows what they are. Here are some pics:
heads look great (as does the whole engine!) But would ten minutes on a wire brush with those head bolts have killed ya??
I should have mentioned that I have chrome covers that go over them. I haven't reinstalled them because I want to re-torque them a few time more.
I think he meant cover the bolts not the heads. porbably the little acorn nut covers that just about all flatheads have. Drew
Looks great Josh; of course it also did about 8-9 years ago when I first saw it at the James dean show.
Just wondering where the breather/oil fill tube runs? I found an NOS one. Here is the box. Does yours run like a road draft tube down low in the airstream? The heads look bitchin!
Cool looking flathead. Love the blower. I believe those carbs will be above sea level and you may have to change the jet size to compensate. Have problems with the throttle at that angle? You could just install a hand throttle and run it right out the window. Love the engine! just funnin with ya !
Tommy: I just run it as a road draft tube. I didnt even know it was supposed to work like the pic you posted. I just found it at a swap meet. Petejoe: As for the linkage, I did have to bend the arm on the carb to get it to work right. Its been like that for 9 years with no problem yet.
Some very cool parts there. Neat stuff Thumbscrew hose clamps (or wire style), rajah plug ends, and tape over the electrical tape with hockey stick tape and it would be period perfect in my eyes.
