I heard here somewhere that last year was the year of the pickup... Now the Phaeton... I love it! But I selfishly hope next is the year of the Tudor or I'll cut my roof off.

  3. Is it just me or does the instrument panel look like it's upside-down? In my opinion (yep....everybody's got one), the curves of the panel would match the curves of the dash if it were inverted.

I haven't got to much progress to show. There is a picture of a 40's built roadster dash in the Birth of Hot Rodding book that I couldn't seem to get out of my head so this weekend I reworked the dash a bit. Also was playing around with headlight location. Just moved them back just a bit, but I like it a lot more. I also borrowed a hood to see if I like that look...

It could go either way. The curves are different radius's so they don't match up as nicely as it would seem. This panel came out of a boat so there are some previously drilled holes that also dictated the placement.

For now, I will reinforce whats there. I go back and forth if I want to restore the wood and or make it more like the US version.

I've got to watch this one and see where it goes. Sounds like it started out within an hour or two of my house.

Sorry guys, not much to show as of lately. Still in the parts gathering stage. I have also been tinkering on the fiver. Here are a few pics of the engine and the fiver.

6- 48 strombergs, Weiand dragstar, Spalding ignition, hurst mounts and d-500 valve covers will make up the engine compartment.
Here is my coupe I've been tinkering on as well. I need to start a thread on this one too.

I look at my '27 tub on Deuce rails, wish the body was 5 years younger!
Ah, well... a T tub that's tall is better than no tub at all.

Here is one for some inspiration. Wescott body with seat set back 3" and all black. More modern than your style but still nice.

You can see how the seat is moved back to increase leg room

This is in WI in the winter but still a good day for a little ride. I think they are way cooler than a roadster.

Thanks for the inspiration Lynn! My tub might just have to stay black.

I think a phaeton looks better with at least the hood top. I'd have to see with and without hood sides to decide about those. Probably without sides for your car because of the engine.

  24. congrats on the tub, I will be watching the progress on this one... like were your going...

I think I will have to lightly blister the hood sides or bend a louver or two for clearance. Its close with a baby hemi.

I'll take mine with a top like Gommi's just to run the cool police/military looking side curtains, there so intimidating.
