This came out of a good running and driving big(1951 F4 or F5) truck. The truck is a one owner and never been off the farm. They put in a new 351w/C6, and this came out. They didnt want to totally wear this old motor out, and it came with lots of parts(tune up stuff mainly, water pumps, starters, and generators). Too good a deal to pass up on. Now what to do with it???
Tie a trotline to it. What do you want to do with it. If you don't currently have a use for it remove everything that sticks above the intake, tape the holes off real well or make blockoff plates for them and stick it under the bench on its top.
Put it in a hoodless hot rod to show off the motor. I got a flattie in my '50 Shoebox. It just sucks driving with the hood on.
To add to this good advice, fill that sucker with oil, used is fine. Pour it right down the intake till it seaps out somewhere, only differnce is i store them sunnyside up.
My friend just found two flatties out in the California desert. He was riding his bike after work and found the motors abandoned near some trash. He took the numbers down and called a guy who said one was a Merc and the other was a 1944 Ford (military?). The Ford had a Navarro intake manifold so it had been used to hot rod at some point in time. He's taking his truck back out this weekend and grabbing them. I'll try and get pics to post.
