Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by da34guy, Feb 17, 2018.

  1. Found a neat 51 Henry J yesterday. It's got a Vortec 350/350 trans/ 12 bolt rear.
    Nova clipped (done right)
Nice body (just ugly color, Turquoise ) polished 5 spokes. Nice nose down attitude
Finished interior (tweed Ugly but it's there and clean)
Radiused rear wheel wheels (done right).
    Runnin and driving car
    even has a/c.
Always been into 32 thru 40 Fords, so don't know the market.
    Any input would be appreciated.\Thanx
Didn't get pics but it's got the right look cept for the color.
I'm a painter so that's no big deal 2 me.

Don, I know you have no intention of keeping the Henry J. It has a limited market then what you usually deal with. It might be something you'll have to hang on to for a while. Besides its not your style.

Priced right, a decent, drivable J wouldn't be too hard of a sell I wouldn't think. They're a nitch market, but a pretty big nitch.
    Pic's always help..:D

As described, sounds like a screamin' deal, barring underlying issues. Quick single stage in a more sellable color and your on your way!

They're not big money cars, but under 10K I think you can't go wrong. Any really truly roadworthy 2 door 50's car is worth that, and if you can do something good with the paint and interior, even better. It certainly sounds like a good deal.

No radius on this one but maybe a visual?
Im not really a big turquoise fan either but if the paint is good, would white make that much of a difference in selling it unless hiding waves?

That color ain't that bad. Put a 24" bordered stripe down the center with your ss white, a B/G sticker in the quarter windows, and double your money! :D

If that is the color, I don't dislike that color at all. I'd rather have that than white. The tweed interior would turn me off a lot more.

You got white and orange on hand? Grab it, the possibilities are endless.

  18. Easter egg color, tweed interior screams 80's street rod,I'm thinking it's not going to be a quick flip.

What about the other one? HRP

They look bad ass when done right. Chop it a 2 or 3 inches will always help a bit. It will make the one above seem ugly.

    My own warped opinion:
Henry Js with narrowed rears and stock quarters don't look right with a raised front or straight axle.
Henry Js with radiused rear wheel openings need to be raised in front or have a straight axle.
If you like it as is, go for it. If you're going to flip it, you might find that others might share my opinion.

No idea of worth or resale market but agree if running, driving, looks pretty good, got to be worth 10K. The only Henry J's I have ever seen have been setup with gasser look, and here in the Midwest have not seen many period,

The interior will scare away more perspective buyers then the outside color will.
If your not going to change the interior, don't repaint the outside.
Given its current interior and color, I believe $10,000 would be near the top of the limited market for a car that doesn't really fit the expected expectations of the market it will be in. That's my 2 cents. Gene

Going to buy the car just to flip it? TURD!

  29. I hate white cars, I always think they are hiding shit body work. Now white racing stripes might go good with the turquoise. $10,000 doesn't buy much when it comes to finished car these days and tweed isn't like syphilis, you can get rid of it!

A neutral colored tweed isn't going hurt most folks, plus it will dye black real easy.
    Easter egg exterior would
