did a search found nothing.. I have a 49 Ford shoebox with the stock 15 x 8 rear wheel with the 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern. I wanna use the Goodyear 6.70 Super Cushion with the 4 1/4 WW. I will either have to narrow down the wheels I have or find steel wheels that have the same bolt pattern but have a 5 inch rim width. I know backspacing is a concern but I'll worry about that next.

My question. Can anyone point me in the direction of some wheels that are 15 by 5 with a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern? Of what make and model do I need to look for or do I just need to spend the scratch and have mine narrowed? Thanks

That'49 Ford definitely did NOT come with a 15 X 8 wheel. The originals were more than likely just what you're looking for. Ther should be plenty of 15 X 5 (or 5 1/2) Ford wheels out there. I would think an 8 would be too much to fit under the wheel openings in the quarter panels.

  4. Here's a picture of a 6.70 X 15 on a factory ford rim in 5 X 4.5 bolt pattern.
