Might as well add my cousin's uni shortbox to this thread too.
His first old vehicle, field truck to on the road in just under a year and a half with the goal of driving it to his high school grad and he pulled it off with three or so days to spare. 390 strapped to a toploader 4 speed.

My Dad's old '56 custom cab. Truck was built by him and Tooter Weaver, well known local upholsterer in the Phoenix area, back in the 80's. Pearl competition orange with the base color used for the striping on it (couldn't find any close up photos), which was done by either Butch Tucker or Jack Dooney. Truck was sold after attending and winning a handful of west coast ISCA shows as well as others, and was later replaced with a couple slammed Chevys, a low mile, big block Vette restoration and a chopped '55 Effie that never saw completion before the truck went missing, a story to be continued later. I believe the orange truck ended up in Oregon when my Dad sold it, no clue of it's whereabouts since though. Had a 351C, quickchange, flush bed floor, naugahyde interior by Tooter, of course. Back when Arizona F-100 was still active...

Tooter Weaver's '56 custom cab built by him and painted by Squeeg Jerger, prior to my Dad's being completed. Believe it had a 460 and Volarie front end, another well known truck in the area in it's day.

Finally, here are some beginning ideas for my next project and first F100... Thinking about using a '56 instead of a '53-'55 as shown though. Want to keep it somewhat period, fairly rowdy and high revving, yet streetable Y block or FE with 3 deuces or hilborn injection, 4... or possibly 5 speed to make it road trip worthy, quickchange, good stance, either Firestone dirt trackers or pie crust cheaters on a set of chrome reverse steelies or Halibrands, maybe even some old mag torque thrusts. Keep it "cheap" and simple with red oxide primer and plain old black tuck n' roll or something along those lines inside. Plan to do most of the work myself, I know my skill set doesn't yet enable me to do certain things to the quality that I desire, however. Build thread to come once I get ahold of the right truck and begin making progress.

Loved the these old pick-ups ever since the guy across the street let me help him 'sand' his '54 when I was a kid.:D
Cool thread. BTW, I think this rendering needs to be posted on the big 'Stance' thread. Just to emphasize how an inch or two can make a HUGE difference in the final product. Thanks Lucky, look forward to a build thread on this one. :D

That happened on accident when I started the rendering, which began as a suspension/drop calculator/configuration on some website I stumbled across, which uses a general truck rendering for reference. I edited the shit out of it on my phone to change the color and wheel and tire setup to give me a somewhat realistic idea of what I'm wanting to build. I did the top one first and realized the rear fender didn't sit quite level on the wheel with the front.... a thing I've learned from my Dad and other builders I've followed online or become friends with. I love seeing wheels placed right in the wheel openings, especially on a truck like this where it makes a noticeable difference not just in appearance, but the stance as well. Always liked them with some rake because they look proper to me that way, the roof sits about level with the ground, takes the rearward slope out of it and gives the illusion of the top being slightly shorter than it is. They're just made to sit that way... But anyway, it's not quite exact to what the finished product will look like, but close enough that it's made me deadset on my idea ever since I finished putting the rendering together.

Just found this one locally. Still planning the project, but want it to look old-school hot rod and may keep the 292 ('64) if it runs OK. May go for a 390 4-speed if not. 00 IMG_5412.jpg 00 IMG_5460.jpg

Just a boat-load of very nice trucks in this thread. I'm a died in the wool Mopar guy but just love old Ford trucks. My folks had a 46' flatbed for hauling strawberries to market when I was a kid in the early 60's. Now all I have is a Tonka 59' Ford pickup (same as I received for my 7th birthday in 1959!).

    Here’s my ‘56 that I bought when I was 16 in ‘82. Straight 6 and I wish I still had it. [IMG]

I mostly read here, so it’s nice to have an opportunity to share. Here’s my current project. 1950 F3. Half ton springs in the rear, so it sorta counts! 350/350 and plenty left to do, but it’s fun to run around in.

This is my 64 F100 with a 292 Yblock. It was a real fun project but I sold it in November to get a 51 Mercury.

I guess. 4th post at 4 years and 2 days in. I wish I could keep my mouth shut that often. I'd get myself into a lot less trouble.
