what ive learned from driving my 38.leg room is tight thin out the seat back.i used 3/4 ply with 2"foam.next time i use aluminun 2mm sheet and gain 1/2 inch extra legroom.5 10 200lbs.cowl vent good but wind out screen gives great ventilation.column shortened helps a little bit too.grab the 1/2" where you can they all add up.plenty of sound and heat insulation helps a lot.enjoy it

I'm pretty sure the bare metal low cab was built in Utah by @zippeay. It was sold a while back.

Another bad ass low cab truck is

This was built by @STEELJUNKY also in Utah. I'm not sure if he still has it.....I haven't seen him in a while.

  3. I have to agree with the fellas about room in the cab. Chopped and channelled is only going to be comfortable for REAL LITTLE GUYS, honest. My 36 has a seat from a small OT Chevy truck, it's very comfortable due to the way I set up the seat and the pedals/ column. If the cab was any smaller, it would SUCK, be aware of this or you'll not enjoy driving the truck. As for the frame and suspension, you're on your own, my opinions don't matter much . Mitch

  5. Found a frame and started mock up...
I'm going to spot weld the axles so I can bolt wheels and tires to move around the yard..
This frame is pretty stout.. 3/16" thick..

what i should have said was seat back from 2mm aluminumwith a 90 degree edge bent allround with dimpled holes all over to add rigidity.3/4 tube at back top and bottom with threaded inserts to hang the back from..could hinge at the bottom to access behind seat for storage .c

that looks nice but what size guy will fit into it.or see out of it you will need legs and neck shortened, smaller steering wheel and run an auto

  10. I'm a little guy I think I can make it work.
I drove to Bakersfield yesterday and bought a 270 from a hamber..
Then today started to mock suspension.
I'm torn between using the 35' frame clip or modifying the big truck frame.
I also found parts that I cleaned a couple years ago.

  11. The big truck frame is wider and the front and rear leave spring mounts are different.
I had to stop and take a break from the sun.

Vegas, you can feel the heat and the sweat. Cool project, I'll tag along.

  14. It wasn't that hot today but I felt the heat today...it was 91° but felt hotter...maybe it was the 10 hour trip I made yesterday.

  15. Seth, if it were me I'd use the '35 front frame half and finish it out with sections of rail from the other frame or even rect tube. Will the frame have a kick up behind the cab?

  16. Tubing is getting real expensive here so I might have to use the frame I have, cut the crossmember and pinch the frame 6" and weld the 35' horns or like you said...graft the 35 to the frame...im going with the underslung frame so no kick up...maybe a c notch on the rear.

  17. Progress stalled because I found shit to do on the gmc coe,I did pull the coe outta the garage, made a table for the fat bastard 54 hydramatic trans.
The trans was sitting on 4 wheels and tires I bought last year. Few miles on them and stored inside...tires are like new.
They have the 6 lug pattern I want...

Maybe next week I'll bbq and call some friends over to help me move the frame to the garage so I can work on it.

You got a 270 GMC six to power Your pickup. KOOL
Check out Buffalo engineering for split exhaust manifolds
Roseville Rod and Customs for cast aluminum intakes

  21. I made these a couple years ago,I think I'm gonna make another set,
I also have an Ellis Dual manifold with matching carbs. 20180321_201515.jpg I think I'm gonna have to steal them from my TV stand.

This weekend felt like working on this pile o shit.
Last week I moved shit around, fuked my shoulder blade and wrist while doing it,didn't realized til Tuesday...
But I've been managing with pain killers and alcohol(not at the same time)

I kicked the Diamond T out or the garage and moved the 37 gmc in...by my self and some ratchet straps...I hate my gravel backyard.
This weekend I pinched the big truck frame, modified the front horn and started to bolt some suspension parts.i also reversed the leave springs...
please let me know if something looks funky,,,it's been a few years since I messed with this front end. 20221009_140704.jpg

Don't know exactly what you did to your shoulder blade but you should get it checked out if you haven't already done so. I tore my rotator cuff but I have full range of motion after the surgery. Not so the case for my BIL and another friend. My advice is error on the side of caution. JMO

  26. I'm thinking of getting it checked out...hopefully just a sprain

  27. Not really working on this thing but everytime I trío on something that belongs to this project I pick it up,take it to the garage and mock it/bolt it to this dam truck.
I.e. I had shit sitting on top of the front horns and spindles were bare.
I was tripping on the tires and had to roll the truck out to clean the garage..started to bolt rotors and drums etc and for sure I'm missing bolts and a bearing etc...finally had a roller but now I just looked at my set up and the scrubline is really low..bout 2" below rim of wheel.
So either flip frame or have someone heat and raise the ibeam instead of dropping it...
I really like the look of the under slung frame
    .
Will have to take a pic later..

  28. I have a 1957 Chevy 3 speed with OD...I'm wondering if I should keep it for this project or sell it...I have someone interested in it but Im still not sure if I want to use the 3 speed,or the 4 speed sawinag,4 speed Muncie or the OD??

    Ideas??

  29. Up to you.
If you were closer, I’d try to swap ya out of the OD

  30. I'm leaning towards using it
