Planning a road trip to NJ for trog in the 52 GMC with our Trillium then Hershey on our way back to Ontario. Both are on the bucket list and near the same dates. Any tips or hints for camping at these events. Thanks Jim. 066.jpg

Thanks Mr48 I googled campgrounds near Wildwood and there are a few but cape may is not that big an area just wondering if there was an old car friendly camping area. I don't mind driving some, would like to take in some of the events. For the most part we will most likely wing it.

lots of campgrounds in the Cape May area which is real close to Wildwood. I know the KOA in Cape May is nice.
Out in Hershey there are numerous campgrounds also.

  10. Don't know about Hershey, but if you can get in at Cape May, it is only about 15 min from the race entrance on the beach in wildwood. Plus, now that they allow old cars to come drive on the beach you don't need to worry about parking if you are ok with driving your truck on the sand. Its real hard packed up in the parking area, I only saw one guy get stuck last year and that's because he was being an idiot in his 1 inch off the ground LS powered model a sedan rat rod POS.

T.R.O.G. Crew do a great job on the beach parking. The sand is hard. Should be no worries. Snowman

Went last year, really had a great time. I wrote a piece on the Old Farts Club site about an old guys take on the TROG, it has a few hints on what to see at the event. Make SURE of the date for 2019 event, as they may have changed from the original dates. As soon as you have confirmed when the TROG is, make a reservation for your campground. They do fill up early. Do some research on the easiest route to take to get there, we took the turn pike route to Philly and got caught in a nasty traffic jam. When we were at TROG a few people told us of some good alternate routes heading back west. If you find the Hershey swap meet is doable, REALLY investigate the camp ground situation. The convieniant grounds are usually booked up year to year. Do a little research, both events are REALLY worth the trouble. Bill Rinaldi

  15. When you are driving up you can take the Ferry from Lewes Delaware to Cape May and cut all the city driving through Philly out. Its a nice little break from driving, I take it every year.
