Top marks to the driver and the photographer! Once in a life time shots - a car going that far over & coming back! Did the driver buy a lottery ticket that night?
This all happened right in front of where I was standing. I saw the tire wall buckle under as he started the turn in and I thought it was going to pop off the rim. Instead, the tire just sort of dug into the dirt and... Well, you know the rest. I swear, I had a pain in my chest for about 10 minutes afterwards, from the adrenalin rush! SO pleased he saved it! Later in the day, I heard that the passenger door had popped and Clark's girlfriend almost fell out! Could've been really serious!
screw that shit..the only time i wanna be on 2 wheels is when thats all i have under me.(like motorcycle).dam good he ended back on all 4
Wow my ass was clinched just scrolling down to see what happens next boy I am glad it turned out the way it did.
I'm in the background in the first piture leanin' on the roof of the truck with me Jalopy Journal hat on, ''mercurial'' is in there too and the chap with his mouth WIDE open is ''beanie''.It was one HELL of a save, it would have been sad to see such a nice ''A'' wrecked, not to mention the ocupants getting hurt, but all well that ends well as they say! Nick.
Thanks for all the comments. I can't believe how this has blown up so world wide! I've got to say a MASSIVE thanks to Andy Meaton for getting the shots. If it wasn't for him I would have had nothing to prove to the world that it did happen! Heres my take on what happened as I was there...! As the day wore on the track surface was getting grippier and grippier as the loose top layer was brushed away. I had noticed that on the previous run when my dad had been driving that the outside front tyre was starting to tuck under real good and he was even cocking a rear wheel! On my turn around with alot more speed it went over. There was also hefty rut around that corner which I believe helped to get it started on its 2 wheeled adventure.
There's no doubting Clark's ability as a driver. Any word yet on whether anyone video'd you tipping up, Clark?
He's a regular "Tom Meents" HUH? As I was looking at the pictures thinking to myself "don't roll" "don't roll" then when I saw the last picture I clapped my hands like a 5 year old!!! Very cool car however, glad it made it.
Praise GOD that was an awesome save. I'm not into fords but I hate to see one messed up while having a little fun!
And more cowbell. Hell of a save. Those are the moments that give hot rodding it's character. Great pictures.
Not that I know of. Not holding my breath. It was very late in the day and most had gone home. I'm happy with the pictures.
How about a transcript. > Passenger (SLAP) You son of a bitch, (SLAP) you almost (SLAP, SLAP) killed us (SLAP) Your dad's gonna (SLAP, SLAP) kill you (SLAP)..... > Driver Thank god this door popped, I'm outta here! > (Sound of tearing upholstery*, and running feet) > *From a firm ass grip. Doc.
whoo boy....i think the silent stare from dad would be more damaging than the ass whoopin to follow. good save, go big or go home.
holy crap that was close.... man i would have got my ass beat ... for letting my boys drive it on the track.
