Used to see a boring Valiant in the parking lot of my shopping center. A 30s something couple eating next door. Used to see it at the grocery store, and going down the main drag. Rain or shine. Paint was tired, no obvious rust, looked pretty straight. Didn't smoke on startup, probably a slant six. Oh yeah, a 4 door. Walked by it one day, looked in the window. Boring interior. Car always made me smile. It wasn't a fucking Corolla, or a shitbox Versa. Had to be more fun to drive than a late model plasticmobile. I'd drive that to work every day, not to a car show.
Had vent windows, too. I'd park it on the street, and not worry about it. Not as cool IMHO as the stuff in my garages, so what. Might start smoking again, just so I could flick my ashes out of the vent window..

I only paid $750. for mine, but that was almost 53 years ago. I could see that 4 dr with a set of 5 spokes. 2014-09-20 112424.jpg

    I'm thinkin' like you.
One of my buddies has a '64 four-door nova.
Turbo LS on E85. Does the Hot Rod power tour, and runs 10 second quarter mile and get 20+mpg.
But the wheels and exhaust tone kinda give it away. Not a total sleeper.
This falcon could be something cool too!
And yeah, a '41 Cad even with four doors is cool!

  11. Someone local had this decimated '67 Fury that I saw around forever. It had the back end smashed in, the guy used trailer lights mounted on top of the fenders. It was rusty as it comes. He worked for the school system and I saw it parked outside the maintenance garage often.

I was next to it as he pulled in for gas, man did that engine sound good. Considering how BAD the car looked, it was a solid runner. I would see it in rain, snow, whatever. I haven't seen it in the past 15 or so years.

Someone else tools around in a '77-ish Pontiac that I've seen for at least 25 years. It is still plated and I guess in use.

  12. I hadn't thought to check FB.

I'm glad it's being ~rescued. It'd be cool if this thread helped with that.

Hard to tell if it sold thru fb, this thread or someone dropping in. they did have someone ask on fb if it was still available the day after they posted it there. that 66 gmc truck it is parked next to was sold the same day they posted it to fb. which happened to have been priced at $2,000 also.

I am also glad it was saved/rescued. I just hope if it was someone here they come forward and let the rest of us know and give us more photos and tell us their plans for it.

  14. If someone local bought it, is watching this thread, and doesn't want the wheels: I could use at least two of the wheels.

There’s some love for fordors going on over on the 64 Tempest thread.

Refreshing to see that at least a few people can appreciate working outside the Tudor cookie cutter box and enjoy these fordoors for what they are.

  16. I just picked up this OT gem, a '66 Belair for the right $$.

Sooooo, you're returning my $1000 Go Fund Me donation, right?!!!:D

Glad to hear someone "saved" it. I will always feel 4-doors are a great entry point to this hobby, and for whatever reason, this one just struck me a a great candidate.
