71st Grand Natl. Roadster Show Fairplex, Pomona CA Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 Pt. III ...and rounding off the end of about 6 hr.'s of sensory and perception stimulus occasionally (and pleasantly) interrupted by the familiar local and 'out of town' friends, acquaintances and former associates, I finish my visit to a fond and familiar place through the "Al Slonaker" competition display, finally ending up at the "Big Show". More hot rods, 'refined' rods, 'roots' rods, radical, traditional and mild customs, the unique, familiar, retro, restored and even "re-imaged" were ever-present for those in attendance spectating to ponder & peruse. As always, it was time well spent for me and even better since my "better half" accompanied me along the way this year. An added bonus, my older sibling John and younger sibling Edward G. set up a booth in the main hall this year with a "family" display for our dad "Fat Jack" Robinson. It offered a space to display his '51 Ford F-1, offer some updated "swag" for sale but most importantly, provide a spot to hang & mingle with his surviving contemporaries & colleagues from over 60-plus years of W.O.T. hot rodding who were visiting the show local and from out of state. Last but not least, the BIG winner of the show was......whoever was fortunate enough to be at the show and enjoy all the cars and the fellow enthusiasts within and outside of the exhibition halls! My only regret is missing the Modesto Model A Ford club swap meet on Sat. at the Stanislaus County fairgrounds in Turlock, CA. But God willing, I'll get to attend both events over the same weekend in 2021! PRE48V-8\;^]
