GMBs - Chin Tiki tour, car show - 34.7% OT

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by stickylifter, Sep 2, 2005.

  1. Saturday in Livonia there's a car show/kustom kulture show. A couple of the guys involved in the show are Jime Litwalk and Jeff Shea, and they host Broken Dream Cruise, so that makes it only somewhat OT. Also, there is pinstriping, and a "mini car show", which looks to me to be code for "Pretty much everyone that comes here is going to be driving a rod/kustom, so why not just call it a car show."

Either that, or a bunch of teeny-tiny cars. I'm not sure.

I am not involved in the show at all, so I have no vested interest, just thought some you GMBs might be interested. All you heathens need some kulture. Saturday is the festival dealy or whatever, and Sunday there is a tour of the old Chin Tiki downtown. It's alll mysterious and shit, so I'm going to go and find clues, like Scooby and Shaggy, and run into the Chin Tiki ghost that haunts the resturant looking for the stolen totem, but is really a real estate developer in a costume trying to get the building for cheap. He might get away with it, too, if not for a couple of meddling kids.

One more shameless plug, Twistin' Tarantuals are at Arts Beats and Eats tonight at 9:00.

    Later!

Dude! is that the chin tiki from the movie 8-mile.. whats that song they sing in that movie... i didnt know that really exsisted. damn i do need some kulture:rolleyes: damn vh1 for showing that movie to much.;)

  6. What wares? I didn't know you had wares. Have a great, safe trip then. See you guys later!

  7. You want do... how do the kids these days say it... roll wit me, homie? We can go stand out front and be all "One chance, one opportunity."

There was a great article about Chin Tiki in the Metro Times last year. I guess that when they filmed 8 mile, the film crew fucked that place up, stole shit and cut wires and stuff. Too bad. I can't wait to see it.

They shoulda got Matt Damon to play eminem. Or Macauley Culkin.

  8. Went to, and had art in, the Chin show last year...IT WAS FUCKIN COOL! The restaurant show was cool enough...getting to go inside the closed down tiki bar was one of the highlights of the year! We even got to meet Mr.Chin! I wish I had time/funds to go this year. :( The art was resonably priced, too...if you're "fashionably late" to the show, you WILL miss lots of great deals on some cool art!

MAN! We go to East Tawas EVERY YEAR with my parents, EXCEPT THIS YEAR! They have a boat (40' searay) and usually dock it at the DNR dock in tawas and we drive up and meet them, usually do the art show thing and head out to the bars at night. One year we all went swimming in the big ol fouitan at the marina (I swear I didn't start it:p ). This year because of gas $$ and the fact the boat gets 5 gallons to the mile we are going to our home port of Bay City tonite.
It would have been cool to hook up with you up there! My wife wanted to go again and get another giant copper bird for the yard...

Well NEXT year we'll have to hook up while there and hang out. I just got back. Traffic home wasn't too bad. I stopped at Fab32's place in Midland for a couple of hours to catch up on life. Had a real nice visit.

I want to hear who went to the Tiki gig and bought what?? Who went on the tour??

  12. Stupid second job, it eats up my weekends!

I'm gonna hafta push the second annual Striping and Stripping party to November this year... bummer.

Sounds like a cool gig though. Maybe I'll send the wife for me.:D
