And adapts well using a GM bell housing and and adapter plate - giving you the correct input shaft length. All things I just did, and relied on gimpys expertise to accomplish!

Nice! was the tail shaft exchanged for the forward mounted shifter?
I was under the impression that only the older ones were forward mounted. Now I want a WC for my build

Yes they have the same shifter location as a nwc. You won't find one without the electronic speedometer though (unless it's been converted). Easy identifiers are the 27 (memory) spline input shaft and the narrow (ford) bolt pattern. Once you see a nwc and wc side by side the difference is pretty apparent.

    The T5 I have from a '93 S10 2.8 is a WC with a Chevy bolt pattern. I.D. tag #1352-222.

Be careful what you wish for. The WC T5 that appeared in the S10 only came with the 4.03:1 first gearset.

I have a S10 4.3 5 speed 2wd.... Gm specs do not support NV3500 in 92 as it was first intrduced in 93 ....92 should be the German Getrag, HM360 I believe...It looks nearly identical to the Nv3500 The RPO code on the label in the glove box will list the gearbox number....

They are similar in appearance, but are not the same inside.

  12. I had one of these behind the flathead in my old 33 pickup. It came out of a 93 S-10 two wheel drive pickup I drove 'till the rust killed it. The plug behind the counter shaft in the trans housing was not the sheetmetal type in the non WC. it was a machined press-in plug with the big GM bolt pattern. I believe early 93s were the only year to have this trans. Worked great!
I also put a NWC S-10 trans behind a 406 SBC in my old 50 chevy delivery. It had the 4.03 or the 3.50 low gear which worked great in the car because the rear axle ratio was 2.29. Easy to drive in town and in 4th gear it would loaf along at 75 MPH all day.

    Had to be trailing-stock.

Borg Warner shut down the casting run for GM pattern cases, after making the last of the production orders, and service parts in early 1993.

By then there were so few requests for that combination that they could not justify continuing production.

Casting aluminum takes more energy than machining steel.

Ford, on the other hand, was still using the WC T5.

Same steel base stock, different machining.

Yep! 1352-222 The one year only 1993 2.8 V6 is the Only S10 T5 that was world class and had the GM Munice bolt pattern. 1993 4 cyllinder S10 transmissions were Worldclass but had the ford bolt pattern And all 94-95 s10 T5's had the ford pattern.
