  3. The same guy came by today to look at my 56 Belair, it’s a nagging unfinished project that I can’t seem to get going on again. I’ve got “issues” with both hands and the specialist I’ve been seeing is closed for now so who knows when my meat hooks will work properly again! The 56 is going to have some body/paint things taken care of and he’s going to fit all the trim that’s not finished and a few other minor jobs. The mechanical side of things is much easier on the meat hooks. 5D9ABCE2-BE8D-409C-A9ED-937A38FE1379.jpeg

Well damn man it's a bitch when hands don't work so good anymore but can't get in to get them fixed. Get well soon. :(

  5. Im not incapacitated, i can do what i have to do. I compare it to shock collar, after you shocked so many times you lose enthusiasm for the hobbies. If i have a good day and get some things done on the car, the hands hurt for several days. It doesn't help that I'm a millwright and work with my hands for a living:rolleyes:

To keep you positive , I had nerve relocation on my elbow and carpel tunnel on my left arm 4 months ago , then had the other hand [just carpel] done last month and after not being able to use either , I can say now im about 95 percent better now. just made it in before this crap hit. I removed my own stiches out of fear of this scourge upon us.

  7. You're not fooling me mister!! That hand is stuck permanently in the shape of a 12 ounce liquid weight!!!!! But on the plus side, like shift wizard said on your other thread, holding a beer in each hand makes it hard to accidentally touch your face :D hang in there brother man! This too will pass....

  10. I had carpal tunnel surgery 20 years ago, didn't help much. The Doc was just poking around trying to figure out what to do when the plague hit.

I agree, looks nice without. I also like the look of the front before, but blinkers and bumpers are a good thing..

  15. I like these cars as hot rods not so much as customs. I've wanted to see the front put back to stock for many years, Dad didn't agree! They do look great with out the exhaust trim though. The Man doing the work owns the "burnt sugar" custom 56 in another thread. It's a little of both. It's a real neat car.

    I'd keep it black.

  17. It might have to stay black! We’ll see where this plague takes us.

It's not like we have a say in the matter, but I'd agree, that car needs to stay black and silver!

  19. It’s funny that practically everyone thinks it should stay black. I too love the black but it’s a lot of money to “freshen up” the black versus a color change. The car is home now and other than the little changes made and the fact that it is shinier in some spots, it basically looks the same. Most people appreciate the “rough” paint more than i do. Considering the world wide situation and other projects i want to work on, it looks like it will stay black!

  22. 3205EEB0-422A-4040-9978-5A8DBB43FE5E.jpeg Home at last, first part done, i’m happy with it. I committed to having my 56 Belair worked on by the same guy, he should start on it by the end of the week. He’s fixing some minor damage, respraying the nose and blending that in, installing all trim thats not on it and a few other small jobs. That leaves me with finishing the mechanicals and installing the interior. The upholstery is done so that part should go pretty quick:rolleyes:

It looks good!!!! I have colors picked out for each year that I want. If a 57 single color red or black with 5 spokes. If 61 two tone Honduras maroon full caps, if 62 all white with small hub caps! I’m all set. Now I just need the car! Lol

I’ve been checking nightly!!! There was a yellow 57 in souther California over the winter for mid $30’s. It was far from perfect but for the price it wasn’t bad in my opinion but I didn’t jump on it. I also have my eye on a few project cars that I’m waiting for the owner to realize he needs to hand them over to me. We shall see.

You won't even notice the difference in the paint finishes running down the road at 60 to 70 miles per hour with the exhaust singing through the duals. :)

  27. Well the 56 got hauled off today! The painter wants to reshoot all the turquoise, ok by me. One of the guys working with him wants to do some of the mechanical work to earn a fresh muncie 4spd i have on the shelf. He is a laid off mechanical engineer and the painter is a boilermaker by trade so i know the skill level is there for the minor fab/welding that needs to be done. I’ve never farmed out much work before but my current situation seems to require that i do. I’m looking forward to this being a functioning car instead of garage art.

    Scotty,

Both your Corvette and your '56 are beautiful cars! I can't wait to see your '56 come together.
