Could there be anything worse than someone else arguing with you about what you built?

  5. And then they explain why they are right while he's otherwise occupied.
Criticize his nice, personal statement of what hot rodding is and then idolize the yellow street rod.....Oh well.
    Nice 'T'.

    Thats a cool vid.

You can tell the owner loves the car. Thats what its all about. Getting excited over the history and the soul of the car.

    Fellas its simple.

Just call everything a hot rod and everyone will be happy. ;) :D

My guess is that sometimes you either get it, or you don't. Those guys just don't get it. I don't think they were trying to be malicious, they are just so igorant about it that they can't be taught.

I thought the yellow coupe looked pretty cool, too. But I wish his buddy would have shown up with the GTX1 !

Nice job on the video, thanks for posting/sharing. Hey TxRat, where did this all take place? It looks like a show and shine type deal...is it in Houston? Thanks again.;)

  12. It was last week on Woodward (Detroit) at the Shell station. I was acually checking out the car with my Dad when they were talking to him. I was so interested in the car I never noticed the guy with the camera until I watched the video just now! Hah!! That is one cool car, the video didn't do it justice. Wanted to talk to the owner but he kinda bolted after those guys were drilling him, so I didn't want to bother him. Very cool car!

OK, cool, so I think I got it now- hot rods are painted, rat rods have plywood floors. Clear as mud.

What a couple of tools, dude built a wicked hot rod, and these guys have a camera down at the cruise to interrogate people like him. They should have contrasted his ride then, with their own "hot rod", the one they drove down there in.

  14. very cool car, the guys filming are clueless, and typical.

  16. I'm going to call those 2 dudes and ask them if they'll tell me what kind of car I have . It's got a metal floor. I one time worked on a car that had plywood for a floor I wonder if it was a RAT ROD. The body was made by A C and the engine was a 427 ford. HUUUMMMM:D
Nice car the guy had, if he's not a HAMBer he needs to be.

Actually I think the guys filming on something. "A rat rod is something thrown together with whatever is around". My car is exactly that. The 27 in the vid IS a traditional hot rod. The owner took the time to get the right/specfic parts for that car. It is cool as hell:cool: and I want one like it. I just don't have the resources to build one like that. My car is a combo of cheap swap meet parts, left over project peices and donated parts from friends. It is a hot rod of the rat rod variety:) .

  21. Too bad that didn't leave the camera on for a few more minutes when Bill probably took off down Woodward, that car sounds like music accelerating.

I think he's assuming TxRat FILMED the vid- but I doubt you did correct? Had TxRat filmed it, then talked about rat rods, that would be ironic :D

Sounds like another of those "If I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand" moments.

meh, it's not really ironic. ironic is something you wouldn't expect.

Steve would reply, but he's working right now.

...it's funnier if you watch the video...

  29. I think that the whole deal is really quite simple.R.A.T. stands for Real And Traditional. All other interpretations are bogus cheap shots by under-educated desperate gearhead wannabees who can`t even spell flathead. They should just keep reading their tuner mags and shut their hole.Bill Jagenow is a true Hot-Rodder and areal class cat.

There were hot-rods way before rat-rods...Time-Bomb John
