It's all over the Don Montgemery books.
I think Dave Simard might own it?

Several years ago I spoke to George's wife who indicated that the car was still in the family's hands. It had not run in many years. There apparently had been some effort to modernize the car ( by a son or son-in-law) but it was not running. I told her the car would most likely be valuable should they decide to sell it. I believe they have been contacted about selling but I have no info as to the status of the car now. At that time it was still located in Southern California - Don

I thought it was still owned by the family. I read that Georges dad was a bodyman and built the car. I think it ran a Cragar.

I have a shot that hasn't been posted yet, I'll dig it up. I mentioned it on another thread, no-one said anything, so I let it drop.

"Skip-It" Built in 1934 for 14 yo George "Skip" Rubsch by his father. Car was rebuilt in 1936 and again in '38, that is when it got the '38 olds grille red flames on cream body. <---- info from Dean Batchelor's "Dry Lakes & Drag Strips"

Was checking out Olds Grills, seems to be the case, though it is heavlily modified. that grill is glorious !!!

Thanks thats very intersting. I want to get the grill closer to this one, what do we think it is, a chopped 34 grill. in a custom housing ?

Any more photos or info would be great. I am also very interested in acquiring the original car.

  22. Reminds me of the car with the curvy chick lounging on the side of the cockpit at B-Ville or the dry lakes.
