Folks Of Interest "George Ray's Wildcat Hotrod Drag Strip"

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Goober, May 5, 2010.

  1. Cool that a new book is out with more about the history of the guy we probably wish there were more of, George Ray, who built a drag strip in his backyard in Paragould, Arkansas just for kicks and ran it his way. Despite his recent passing, it's still going. I got to have a copy. More at http://www.paragoulddailypress.com/articles/2010/05/04/sports/doc4bdf580b99c3d435631494.txt

Wish I had gone while he was still alive. Now, it's a must see. Could it be as cool as it sounds?

I know HORSEPOWER TV played the show with George Ray's Wildcat strip about a HUNDRED times but I always watched!! It just looked like a COOL place! Mel:D

Glad to hear it's still open, going to get there someday.

  5. Open?!? Arkansas, here I come!

  6. My dad used to run that strip back in the 60's sometimes. I went there about 10 years ago to see a friend of mine run. It's definitely an old-school strip.
