RIP to a local legend…he spent a lot of time at Detroit Dragway…had a bad ass Comet that went on to be owned by Wayne Gapp and the Hi Risers bitd
John DeLorean spanked Enzo !!! As an Italian I love it !!!!! This guy was the quintessential thinker and tinker-er . View attachment 5403791 and then designed and built this stainless steel thing that captivated everybody in the 80’s ! they came with Volvo engines worked on a few of them back in the day . cool cars , cool guy. God speed .
R.I.P. Mr DeLorean. When you think of Pontiac engines looking back, his name has to be one that is in the top 3. Being a big fan of 60's Tin Indians I for one am glad he was in our hobby. God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
Goodguys Gazette columnist, Albert Drake interviewed George back in 1981: THE OTHER DELOREAN by Albert Drake - October 2020
God Speed George , another true legend has passed . This is happening way to often . I have ask this before “ who’s goin to fill their shoes ? “
Al Drake did his interviews with a tape recorder, and he has some good ones of the Dry Lake Racers, when he wrote Flatout. Sounds like George was the real deal, and then some !
George was a bit unique in that he was well connected in Detroit engineering circles yet rather than hit the big time and follow the NHRA circuit he stayed close to home. Maybe he didn’t want the hassle of being on the road so he was content to stay local and run his shop. Godspeed George.
I met George one time, through a mutual friend. I got the idea that he didn't like me much. But my buddy said, "Naw, he's just having a bad day." Sorry I didn't get to know him. R.I.P. George.
