Hello, Just bought a new shifter rod and was trying to install it tonight. Here is a photo of where I stand at 9:00pm Central time. What is the trick to removing this broken shifter rod without tearing up the spring inside? Thank you, Guy
My brother Tom Phipps designed the Gennie Shifter. You have to remove the spring first. You do this by removing the two jam nuts on the right side, then remove the 3/8" allen bolt which holds the spring inside. After removing the spring you can knock the roll pin out then lift the shifter rod out.
By the way, I love your little red rpu...saw it in person at the LARS 2019. As you see by the photo attached I have removed all bolts on the right hand side. The sprig is still keeping the rod from coming out. I don't want to break the spring so not sure what to do. I have contacted Nick at the Gennie shop hopefully he responds today. I PM you my phone number if you have time to discuss. Thank you,
