I would like to change over my generator for an alternator on my original 36 Ford Coupe. I would like to stay with the 6 volt system which is positive ground. Has someone done this before and can give me some pointers ? Possibly some one has gone from a 6 to 12 volt system and has some parts left over as the kits are somewhat expensive. Thanks For help in this area. Tom

That doesn't look to be a lot of help as he is using a unit that is readily available in the UK but unknown here. Several of the old Ford V8 supply houses have 6 volt alternators and should have proper instructions to go with them.
Here is one link. https://cgfordparts.com/wwwsectionfiles/cg_cat1_generator_alternator.html It might give you sticker shock though.
