Looking good ya'll Thanks so much for the help. I know that Cromer has been working on the engine. Famed engine builder Gene Fulton donated valve springs retainers and locks a few days ago.

  9. That thing is looking sweet. Lots of craftsmanship going into this rebuild. Any decision on wedge or cammer for its debut ?

Looks like it's gonna be a wedge. I would like it to have a cammer. However, Gene said he's going to build a "Good" motor later.

  14. a wedge is a good motor the cammer is just the best. :D
I know what you meant.. thanks.

I put quotes on "good" because that's what Gene said. He didn't say whether the "good" motor would be a wedge or cammer.

Thank you for the photos and the updates. I know this takes time and I appreciate your effort. Gene has to be grinning like a kid on Christmas morning!

Looks like Chris Harper is doing an excellent job on the body. The white front axle and springs are just like they were in the 60s.

Back in 1967, when Gene was using both the wedge and cammer, I remember him saying that the wedge ran better on gasoline than the cammer. At that time Gene was running a lot of " run what you brung" races ( these were great times ) with the Willys and the Mustang funny car. At those races, both cars ran on alcohol and maybe nitro( I'm not sure about nitro) and he said that the cammer really woke up. I was in the Army from 1968-71 and he may have possibly seen a difference in the cammer( on gas ) as time went on. I know this, if he builds the engine it will perform!

You guys are rolling! What a great example of what made the cars and the people of this era so great. Quain set the bar pretty high for these guys but they.re on it with what looks like top shelf work. Thank you all

Thanks to everyone that has helped on this project and thanks now to Chris Harper for all his preparation on the body and paint. Thank also to David Gregg for his help
and to Jack Mcallister for the Web Site and all the time consuming work in putting this together. And to Quain Stott for starting all this.

  27. Gene,
Thank You for being an unsung hero and carrying the blue oval banner back then. People in the north and all the way to the west might not have heard of you or the moonlighter, but they do now.

You have quite a talented pit crew and crew chief down there. I guess you wish you had their help years ago. NOT that you and Melvin didn't have the field covered. Thats already been proven in history.
