UPDATE - on Gene Cromer's condition. They are planning to do surgery on his back tomorrow to improve his situation going forward and to relieve the level of pain he is experiencing.

He is also having trouble eating due to severe bruising to his neck and inserting a temporary feeding tube my be necessary.

Please continue to keep Gene and his family in your thoughts & prayers. They need them more now than ever. HRP

Was a little afraid to read the update...due to the severity of his injuries and his age...well, you know...
Anyway, not great news, but pretty good news...he IS on the mend.

This incident motivates me to make plans to install a winch on my trailer. I have the winch, just need to get off my lazy ass.

We were out of town at the All Deuce Run and when we returned I was informed Gene in the ICU but has had a couple of good days and seems to be improving. HRP

The surgery that was scheduled for last Friday had been postpone until today, the back surgery was a success and Gene is in ICU and doing well.

Gene is in neuro ICU where the doctors & nurses are working with Gene to get him off the ventilator, as soon as that happens they can start rehab. HRP

The most recent news from Gene's sister, July 6 update. Please continue to pray for my brother Gene Cromer. He is in critical condition in the Neuro ICU. He has had some complications and they are monitoring him. We really appreciate all of your prayers.

I have tried to respect the fact that Ruth has enough on her plate without me asking her the same questions everyone is asking.

Late last night we heard heard from Julie about Gene's condition . Gene had so much trama to his chest from impacting the steering wheel that he had a lot of bruising and swelling in his chest and neck. This caused the collapsed lung and delay of the back surgery.
When he improved enough to with stand the surgery they went ahead and the surgery went well but he was again having trouble with his breathing and Anmed gave him a temporary tracheotomy and feeding tube, but due to the swelling and not being mobile, they have had to remove fluid from his lungs a number times.

Because of the long term nature of the breathing issue recovery, Gene was transferred to St Francis in Greenville SC for critical care and therapy.
