For those that are unfamiliar with Gene Cromer & The Moonlighter, there is a huge thread on t he hamb and was orchestrated by none other than Quain Stott ( the man behind Southeast Gassers).

Very interesting thread how total strangers came together and help Quain with the restoration of a historical drag car, especially here in the South and the man that built the car and campaigned it in the 60's and 70's. HRP

  3. The Willys can be fixed. Let us hope that Gene can be fixed, too.

  4. I have known Gene ever since I was 8 years old, he and Ruth are two people I admire and you couldn't ask to meet nicer folks, at 89 it's gonna be hard but he is a man of strong faith.

BTW, Gene & Ruth recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. HRP

  5. So sorry to hear this. Prayers Up for a really great guy.

  6. God speed to your friend HRP.

89 and loading that thing ! He’s got the gumption to get out of this ok.

That looks like a very serious hit. It doesn't get much more painful than back and rib injuries. Best wishes to Gene for a complete and speedy recovery.

  18. Wow. Praying for Gene to recover quickly. I’m sure he knows the car can be fixed, but is also sick it happened on top of any injuries to himself. At least, that is where I might be.

Very sad situation - reality is that at his age injuries like his will be very hard to recover from, and likely lead to future health problems - but, he has a lot of people sending him only the very best wishes and prayers - please post more info as it becomes available

Thanks for letting us know ... I will be the first to admit to not believe in religion, just amazing what the power of prayer can do. And been documented over & over ... Lets pray for Gene.

70 year wedding anniversary, what a life. I did quick math, I would need to be 88 years old & my wife 90 to make a 70 year anniversary ... I honestly do not see myself living that long. Sadly I think or hope I will last longer then my wife. She needs me and I am her protector.

This is not about me .... After being married for over 30 years, I want to be there for my wife to comfort her when she passes. After that who cares. We all die 100% guaranteed.

I imagine Gene feels same way. While it may be his time at 89 years old ... Lets pray that he can recover and help his wife with her passing.
That would be my goal, Take care of her til she is gone. After 70 years I then would be ready to join her.
Gene is not ready yet, He still has work to do, lets send our prayers.

I hope Gene gets better real quick. But hell how did the accident even happen?. Was he driving up trailer ramps and popped the clutch and drove into the trailer?

Thoughts are with Gene for a speedy recovery...such a terrible anomaly...so much power that a thing as simple as a sudden sneeze or slip of a foot could spell disaster...our Hobby is fun but riddled with potential danger...I don't think any of us haven't had close calls but it certainly opens the eyes when Lady Luck isn't watching out...

Thanks for sharing this tragedy with the Community @HOTRODPRIMER...tthoughts to you and the others close to Gene as well...let him know we are thinking of him....
