Gear Drive headers - worth every penny

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Probesport, Mar 8, 2012.

  1. So I have been buying and trying all sorts of homemade and used header designs and I just wasn't happy, but I was bound and determined to not spend the dough to buy what I really wanted - until spring started getting closer.

I finally broke down last week and gave saltflatmatt a call to get some headers built for my project, it was a short conversation but he know what I wanted and I felt like he was the right man for the job so I handed over my money and sat by the window eagerly awaiting the brown Santa Claus to come with my presents.

I came home from work yesterday and saw the package sitting on the porch. Once I saw the shipper tag, I realized it was time to get this car done. I got changed and set out to the garage to get these things fitted up. Once they were on I have to say I am more than happy with the construction and even moreso that it was money well spent. I have not fired it up yet so I cannot comment on the sound but if it sounds 1/2 as good as it looks I am in for a treat.

    Anyway, on with the pictures!

Looks GREAT! I love the baffle. That should sound MEAN without knocking out your dental work.

    Kudos!

Also, dig the scallops. I like where you are heading with this build....

    Those look great.
I like the swept tubes and how he's making the baffles bolt in now.
I love mine, they were a little loud for me so I wrapped the baffles in some ceramic fiber and quited them down a little.
    Great Product Matt

Matt is one of the guys who wear white hats in this hobby........super nice guy and he builds a great product. The baffles do knock the sound down slightly and give it a nice throaty sound. The turnouts should help even more. Those look killer on your hot rod. :)

My son just built a set using Matt's parts and I can tell you that a lot of work goes into building them.........more than we ever would have thought.

We can and do on request but in the past zoomies have been a headache for me and the customer. They are very loud, then the customer calls and complains. I have baffles but they don't work as well as some people expect.

Those were made on Baileigh equipment ;)

  18. I tried them turning out instead of turning down. I like the look alot better, will have to see if there is a noticeable sound difference.
