The gauges in my 62 unibody have gone bad. I tested them yesterday. I would like to go from the 6 volt sluster system to a 12 volt. Are there gauges that are compatible with my cluster?

62 was 12 volt and no, you can just get an aftermarket gauge cover and install regular gauges.

Sorry, yes this is a 12 volt system, but aren't the temp and gas gauges 6 volt and a cluster voltage stabilizer is used to reduce the voltage? Thanks 302aod for the input. The original gauges are much more expensive that I had hoped and thought I could replace the old gauges for upgrades in the same cluster location. bob

just curious, how did you test the gauges?

  5. Yes, it seems odd that ALL of them went bad at once.

I tested gauges with two d cell batteries in series. Put them together and checked with a meter. Had power, but no movement in gauges. The voltage stabilizer is shot. It actually smoked. Thinking it took out gauges because they worked, sort of, until that point.
