Nailhead is best combo. Narrow so you don't have to whack the hell out of the engine bay and they make TORQUE which will move that little bird right smartly :)

hey!! what is all the crap about the combo? how many chevy's have been put in these over the years? i seen a pontiac in a gasser falcon like this in a pop rodding book i have and a flathead once. back in the day when you were building a drag car, average guys put in there car, whatever they were into, motor wise.
    how about STRIPPED.

There was an article in Hot Rod, mid to late 60s about a 65 or so flacon with a 389 tri-power in it. Might be inspiring.

killer idea!! i would only change one thing...and its somethin you could do later since you already have the 6x2 setup

hilborn injection with some nice tall stacks

other than that im all about a nailhead in a falcon. i got a nailhead goin in my 51 chevy. although part of me wants to save that motor for somethin open engine bay to show it off.

You can put "Why?" on the sides of the car, and "Why not?" on the back.

The nailhead was past its prime as a race motor in the 60s, but keep in mind that there were plenty of guys that assembled unlikely combinations to get out there and compete. Did the guys winning national titles use nailheads in the 60s? No. Did local racers use them? I'm pretty sure they did.

Hmmm??? What can I say??? A Buick
nailhead in a Falcon would be er...um..."novel"
.....to say the least.....even by gasser standards!!!
Personally, if it were mine I'd be inclined to put
either a radical looking -ie- multiple carbed, stack
injected, or blown, built small or big block Ford
    - or a small block or W-motor Chevy in it - as
that probably would be more technically "period
correct" and likely for an actual early-'60's Falcon
gasser. But to each his own and if the voices in
your head are really telling you to build a nailhead
powered Falcon, than go for it!:D

About a name....someone here on the list already
suggested calling it "Strange Bird". I like that one
and I'd definitely have to second it To me, it's
almost like, what else could a nailhead powered
Falcon possibly be , other than a 'strange bird'??!!:D

    Update #1

Pulled the soon to be "Strange Bird" into the shop and started tearing it down.

Thanks to 58fridge100 for the "Strange Bird" Idea!

    Pulling off all the trim...

Removing the stinky wet carpet.....yuck! The floor is in incredibly good shape.

    This wheel is definitely staying!

Found some rot in the b-pillar....not too bad. The rest of the car is great.

Now....back to work! Gotta yank this paper weight out!

Cool! Different is good if you pull it off nicely. The one in your avatar right? Rad car.

Thats a good idea, but "Strange Bird" is sticking!

That Nail will be the focus to the hole car / neat looking motors.
How about a lexan hood for a real 60's look, so you could see the motor easy.
Then how about ''NAIL IN THE COFFIN''.

Hears mine wild falcon ideas, these cars are neat.

    Well, of course.

    If I had a 406, it would be in the living room . . . .
