Hot Rods Gasser Gasser Gasser!! 1962 Falcon Futura with a Nailhead??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chuckles Garage, Dec 16, 2009.

  1. You know how hard it is for me to not follow your build?? I see your thread at the top all the time and it makes me sick!! Not because you're kicking ass and doing a super fine job at it, it's just because you are making me look bad!

This build is very inspirational and makes me wish my Buick was at the shop not in storage.

    Soon, baby, soon.

Keep up the killer work. I absolutely love it!!

Heres a crappy photochop job to give you an Idea what i was thinking:

Something is screwball with my photobucket account...I just paid those crooks 25 bucks for another year, and it still expired. Lame! I'm hoping the whole thread doesn't go blank.

My buddies Jake, Casey and Nic came and lent a hand today in my mad rush to get this contraption to VLV. I forgot my camera at home so theres just a couple poor quality cell phone pics. I'll take some better ones tomorrow.

I decided to get rid of the inner fenders completely. Something about them only being half there was annoying for some reason. Casey went nuts with the spot weld drill and the grinder, while Jake made the reinforcement plates and did all the metal prep. I bent up the tubes and welded them in. The tubes meet up with a crossbrace beneath the dash that will be tied in to the cage. It will look much better when the rails are cleaned up, and those conduit braces on the core support go away. I made some wild ladder bars as well.......more tomorrow.

Glad to see you cut the inner wheelwells out. I was wondering when you would decide. Looks much better. Here's mine.

Thats nice and clean. I kept the stock rails though. I kinda liked the shape. And there is a huge chunk of my firewall missing for some reason.

I see the chunk missing, I can't compete with that so I'll keep watching with my tail between my legs.

More progress. My friends have been really awesome coming and helping me bang this thing out for VLV. Its a big help when I have guys that can cut/grind/clean/drill so I can focus on all the crazy stuff. Thanks Jake, the two Caseys, Aaron and Justin.

The front supports are all done, and alot of the metalwork has been started. Got the core support braces made as well.

I still have to clean up the firewall, and make some removable aluminum firewall covers on the bead roller, those will come after the engine goes back in.

Ladder bar brackets and mounts finished, along with a neato pair of 66 1/2" Bars. I'm going to put some more bracing on them after VLV. Theyr'e made from .156 wall tubing. Pretty strong bars.

That lettering is perfect... how about some late 60's early 70's square line paneling? Red windows are a required by the gasser police.

Sorry about the crapy paint program.

Maybe some of the old time stickers like,:

    "I "Love" (w/ a heart) Hooker Headers"
    STP
    Union 76
    Valvoline
    Goodyear
    Champion (Spark Plugs)

Those always remind me of the cars from back then.

    What do you think?
