  10. I'll bet that guy lives in Roswell. :D

Now that is a good example of something that you just don't see any more and it used to be common, a list of everyone that helped in some fashion on the car.

This one is easy, look at the little guy painted next to the 15oz sign on the door...he is the Burgermeister guy...for those of you who don't remember, Burgermeister was a local beer, and came in 15oz cans...It was what Les Hawkins, Lyle Webster, and all us low-buck guys drank....(I crewed for these guys, reward was a couple of 15oz cans of Burgermeister)

and the second question, about when roadsters went from tonneau to hard cover, it depends...I might have been one of the last to drive a roadster with a tonneau, it was Don Wilson's, an old T with a Chrysler that he bought around '67, when I got out of the Navy...I drove it for Wilson as he had polio...it had a tonneau and right before the lights at Irwindale, one of the front tonneau snaps came undone and the tonneau blew up and into my face on a 131+ run...scared the crap out of me, grabbed it and tried to pull it off my head, but the wind kept it there...fortunately I grabbed the brake and somehow got it to a stop...I grabbed the tonneau and threw it in the dirt...again, this was '67 when all the other guys who were a lot smarter went to hard covers for their roadsters...that old tonneau is probably buried under the Miller Beer plant that is now on the site of the old Irwindale drag strip....

And some altereds, I am taking the term seriously as it was, stock frontal area, 25% engine setback, no more than a 6" chop or channel...and in those days altereds were coupes or sedans, not roadsters, which had their own class:

technically "fuel coupes" were not altereds in the really early days, "altereds" were gas-only. Fuel coupes had to run fenders, altereds did not

although some gas altereds did run fenders, Ted Cooper from Imperial Beach, CA

I've seen several cars over the years use motorcycle wheels and tires but never a wheel with brakes. Great looking car!
