I found this book at a local garage sale. The old fellow I bought it from said he really shouldn't sell it because it was his grandfathers! He said his grandfather had a car repair shop in the building we were standing next to. He was really reluctant to sell it, but I told him I would able to appreciate it and knew others who would also. It's a 1923 Chiltons "Automobile Directory" It lists what seems to be every manufacturer of all sorts of automotive repair and accecessory parts. It's meant to be a guide for shop owners looking for parts and different "lines" to sell. It also list all the car manufacturers of the day, most of which i haven't heard of. and also lists stuff for "orphan" cars (Their words) There is one section that is all Ford stuff, printed on different "tinted" pages. That section shows some speed parts and speedster bodies for Fords. It's a cool book and I've already killed a few hours looking at it. I'll post a few pics here and if there's any interest maybe I can scan some more.
My long gone F-i-L had a '35 to '52 Motor manual that my B-i-L had and then gave to me several years after he passed on! It is absolutely a kick in the head to gaze upon the spec's of V-8's, V-12's and V-16's that were made through the OLD YEARS back then!! pdq67
I scored some too. I went to an auction today, got some hub caps for $12, one for a chevelle ss, and a lawn mower!
My grandfather had a book very similar to that one. It had a section on fixin up "old cars" Ha. On a different note here's my $8 flea market find today. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
