Hey Tim! It IS a big family! Gabby himself only had three daughters, his middle daughter Judy being my mom... but I know he had a ton of cousins. Gabby and his family moved to Long Beach from North Dakota when he was a kid. Maybe we're relatives somewhere along the line. Lol.

I raced against Gabby at Saugus Speedway in the 70's, he ran a Dodge and it was not quick but always dent free and well prepared! He was a True Gentleman.

He wasn't in it to win it (thankfully), but he did love racing! He always talked about the guys at the Speedway. Good ol' #51! I was young, but I was his big birthday/retirement bash. Never heard anything so loud before in my life... and I loved it! [IMG]

This past weekend was the Long beach swap meet. I live in Spokane and was not there; but photos of Gabby's car were posted on MTFCA.com. Who now owns this car?

    Ditto what Clayton said.
I hadn't seen pics of his steering setup up close. Thanks for those. Such a rad car.

Nash steering. The engine just enjoyed a fresh rebuild.

I think the stance of Gabby's T is the best ever done to a fendered T roadster.

Flyin-T- SO sorry for not getting back to you sooner. His daughter, my Aunt Barbara got the Chevy, and my mom, Judy got the Blue Bird. They are still well loved and in the family. And yes, if you were at the funeral at Forest Lawn on Cherry, then we likely met. I'd also gone to many of the car shows with mom and Grandpa Gabby. I miss those days!

In fact- here's a photo of Grandpa Gabby (and Grandma Lillian) in the Bluebird at our house.

I don't know how I missed this thread when it first started, great car with a great builder. If anyone is wondering about why Plymouth wires were used, the bolt pattern is the same as stock 26-27 T wire wheel hubs. Bob [IMG]

Its amazing how timeless the Gabby T is! This has to be one of the best examples of less is more. pretty cool to hear the story of the car and the man behind it!
