The "HAMB BBQ, ANTIQUE AIRPLANE, METAL SEMINAR, COUNTRY TOUR AND DIRT TRACK RACING EVENT" here in Missouri is coming up on June 25th:

JUNE 25,2016 HAMB BBQ, ANTIQUE AIRPLANE, METAL SEMINAR, and DIRT TRACK RACING EVENT
11:15 AM. Meet at Porky's BBQ, Grain Valley, MO, Visit.
    12:00. Eat.
1:00. Scenic country tour easterly to Anderson Aviation, visit with owners/restorers Mark and Andy, see many vintage aircraft, including Model A powered open cockpit planes. Possible photo op.
2:30+ Tour, with bathroom break en route at Quick Trip, to Jim Huseby/Speedsters for "Practical Metal Work for the Rodder/Restorer" seminar.
4:30+ Tour to Valley Speedway 3/8 mile oval track at Grain Valley. Eat some track side food, enjoy thunder in the valley watching sprints, midgets and modifieds, get dirt in your eyes. Note: bring ear protection and a warm jacket, a blanket to sit on and possibly eye protection. Optional visit in the pits afterward! I am working on getting display parking, etc. Admission is $12.00 unless we get a group discount. I'll try.
America's Best Value Inn at Grain Valley (816 224 3420) has been recommended by a friend as a place to stay for those who will have a long drive back.

Were gathering steam for this. I talked to Mark last night and he said he would like to do a demo on aircraft riveting to help get some of us thinking about aircraft building techniques applied to our speedsters and whatever.

Thunderstorms are forecast for Saturday, but I say let's go anyway, same gathering spot, same time. Forecasts are wrong in this area regularly and we ain't afraid of getting wet anyway. The airplanes are inside and Speedsters is inside and I want some barbeque. If it's raining or the track is not dried out enough, there won't be any racing, so we can stay longer at the seminars, find something else interesting or head for home early. There are a couple scenic places on the Missouri river that I drive to when I need quiet time by myself that would add some scenic cruising after the seminars, and there will be other good ideas, so 'see you there.
