There is another post going about fuel tank volume, which got me to thinking. Tipical cars have the tank hanging out in the back, behind the axle witch is undesirable. Has anyone built a tank or tanks to sit inside the frame rails, as for improving handling?
Not a horrible idea, but it has to be integrated into the design. For example, you might be taking up some of the volume usually used for exhaust and suspension. If you are thoughtful, it can be done neatly and effectively. As an example, the Zipper lakes modifieds have under-cockpit fuel tanks that clean those cars up nicely.
