Fuel pump

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by STEVE1103, Jul 9, 2010.

  1. Had an electric fuel pump installed in a 47 Chevy for fuel injection, for a 3.1 V6, removed the FI and put on a carburetor, can I use this fuel pump with a fuel regulator? Can the regulartor reduce the high pressure?

Just pipe in a regulator with a gauge and run the excess fuel back to the tank. Some folks have run the bypassed fuel back to the inlet side of the regulator, but if the electric pump puts out a lot of volume of fuel, setting the regulator becomes harder. And yes, it's a PITA to run another line back to the tank, but if you took FI off the car, you might already have the return line in place.
