Fuel gauge stuck on full

Is there an easy way to determine if it is the sender or the gauge? Fuel gauge is stuck on full. Stays there even when power is cut off. I know it is wired properly because I have been running the car for 7 years and gauge always worked fine. I used a multi meter to run some voltage and ohm tests but can't seem to isolate the problem. My electrical diagnostic skills are lacking.

If the gauge is stuck on full, even when there is no power to it, then that would tell me that the gauge is bad.

GM style gauges go to full if there's any break in the connection. First, most common thing that causes it is the fuel tank not grounded properly.

Mine started going to full as it emptied, when full goes to half. Ohmeter says the sender is fine, so new gauge it is, again. Aren't any made in the USA????

Look at the bright side, you don't need to buy gas if the tank is full:D
