    Yep, and the best thing is to remove it and start over. 60's hot rod independent conversion that was never very good to begin with.

    That steering setup is the epitome of cobbled up mess.

    Right on. A lot of those things ended up under rods in the 60's and early 70's and damn few of them were done right.

    A very common suspension in the 60s-70s. Cheap, easy to find and all self contained. It was difficult to find a R&P steering that worked well. My buddy used to bitch about his in a 37 Chevy P/U. The biggest problem was that it took a football field to make a U turn. When going to rod runs, it would take him several jockies to turn around on 2 lane streets. I found all the unboltable parts chromed in a shop in Baltimore. I bought it all for stupidly cheap money. It was never picked up. 4 bolts and it dropped right out.

    My Essex had a Corvair front end in it when I got it. Now has a dropped axle with split bones. Much better!
