just wanting to know how you have set up your front axles on your hotrods. Is there an exact science to it or do you just try and replicate what the factory has done. What is the correct angle to lean the axle back and is there a general rule to what angle the wish bones should be at in relation to the axle and chassis?

Any pics of your front ends would help. I am looking at setting up a suicide front axle on a modified and just want to get it right the first time.

    Tell me what you know.

    Cheers guys.

Set your caster at 7* by the top of your kingpins. Put your bones as close together as you can (at the ball end). And do a search on here to explain Ackermann theory.

ha ha ha. Good luck with that. You'd probably be the first guy ever. But what has been said already is a good start. Split bones out to the rails will be OK with a beam axle but not a tube axle. If you run side / cowl steer try to get your pivot between the pitman arm and drag link as close as possible to the pivot of your bones. Then the drag link and wish bone / split bone will rotate in the same arc as the axle moves up and down.
