What's with friend requests, on this board?
Is there a reason for this?
I've received several, from people i don't know, nor have had any dealings with.
Seems odd to me, am i missing something?
Is there a purpose I'm unaware of?

I'm not sure about being your friend, but what about a hug?

in todays world, it's best they figure to never be left alone, so "friend" everyone is the mentality . You can turn it off like I did. Got all the "friends" I could want myself.

Maybe just want to ask questions about your super righteous build.
    Or...they just want your bod.

    I don't get many friends requests :D

Not sure, I don't like anyone anyway !

  9. I'll give you a hug, I'm just that kind of a guy.:) :D

The whole friends thing I believe is just because the message board is set up that way. If you ad someone to your contacts list they end up in your friends list, there is also a little check box to ask to be friends with the person you added to your contacts list. Then they get a note asking if they want to acknowlege you as a friend. It can be as personal as you want to make it.

I got one of these on another car related forum I go to recently. I accepted, but still feel kinda awkward about it. What is the big difference if you are my "friend" or not if I don't know you off of the forum? And we live a couple thousand miles apart. I doubt we will ever meet in person...

And I have regularly started ignoring "Friend requests" on Facebook. If I dont know you, or haven't talked to you in a couple years, there is probably a reason for that! LOL :D

PM' them and ask. WTF? Dude, it's free. Now if a stranger asked 'how big a shoe you wear?' Then it's time to be alert!

From my personal experience it is usually someone you gave a solid logical answer on a question to, someone who likes your car or someone who likes what you have to say.

And there may be one or two who just try to see how many "friends" they can collect but I'd think that was pretty rare.

  15. Got a friend request from another '31 Dodge owner. I am not certain if that is all we have in common.

  16. Funny thing, I actually find that while there are damned few that I have much in common with and most while they make friend requests really would not like me in the real world there is a lot of common ground when we can talk mechnical.

I use it to watch posts I find worth reading by people I find interesting.
click on someone in my friends list, click on thier statistics, choose find posts by
and see what they've been up to.

then I go back to looking for worthless crap to get rid of.

    hope that helped :)

  28. For some strange reason I seem to remember that there was going to be some "on-line tools" available to use with the list - like the ability to create an announcement or holiday greeting or whatever tailored to a specific group. If there is, I sure can't find them.

I use my friends list to "collect" only the folks I have met in person and spoken with - some briefly, some many times. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of great people I have met through this incredible message board. One day I hope to meet those whose requests I have yet to accept.
