“Chasing the shadow”
32 Ford Altered Roadster
In Long Beach, CA, REATH AUTOMOTIVE was the major speed shop sponsor from small parts to major contributions to a hot rod/drag race build. We have seen plenty of Reath Automotive sponsored race cars at Lions Dragstrip and other So Cal dragstrips. When out-of-state racers came to So Cal, the stop over was always Reath Automotive at 10th and Cherry Ave., then later on 33rd and Cherry Ave. The abundance of speed parts available and the machine shop was there to add to the Reath touch.
It was not just parts, but the atmosphere of race car knowledge and big old Joe Reath’s vast knowledge. The information offered to each racer, travelers, big name locals and even small potatoes, like a couple of teenagers on their first build, helped everyone go faster. The bigger the name of the sponsor labeled on the race car, the more contributions were offered.
The 1932 roadster of the Thurmond Brothers did well and if something is missing in the drawing, there was some artistic liberties taken to keep the race car, traditional, early 60’s.
Here is a My interpretation of Ed Roth’s Rat Fink. I custom bead rolled this piece for a friend. Hobo Jim

Love the look and stance of the '56. Great Work !
Love the bead rolled Fink.
Been busy painting the last two weeks. The last three are traditional. The first one may get deleted, kind of scary, but cool. All painted with one-shot. Gary

Just something I envisioned awhile back as an upscale Lincoln variant of a 2-seat Ford Thunderbird
^^^ If that doesn't have a late '50s European look nothing does. ^^^
My sad attempt at an artsy type shot.
Hot Rods in front of BC’s gov’t building was just way too ironic, so had to try a shot like this.
