  5. New Drawings, all based on pencil drawings done last Sunday. The Holden was all- 'glass and billety. I changed it somewhat. The Nomad & Buick- Nomad a resto-mod, Buick a nice clean resto. 220523Budd56nomad.jpg

    Based on Effijy?

It needed those spats... the original rear wheel openings don't quite look right IMHO.

Did you flatten the bonnet (hood)? Never seen the beastie in the flesh, and hard to gauge the bonnet height of the original despite all the photos taken.

    Cheers,

  11. Jigger, your push carts brought back a lot of memories. We built a bunch of them when we were kids back in the late 40s, early 50s. We even had a short dirt track with a fence around it to race on. Spoggie, Bob, hotrodjack33 and the rest of you what a great start. Love Fridays!
    Later,
    Dick

    Hello,

It all started with the photo I took of a So Cal 1936 Ford 5 Window Coupe. There have been other posts about the cool factor of the grille, the hood, adaptability of various parts to other sedan delivery hot rods. The Blue 5 window just had the cool So Cal look and gave me some impetus.

Then I was inspired by another Ford 3 window coupe from another story line on Jalopy Journal. That got me drawing again in different styles and color. The lowered Ford 3 window had a different look of being chopped over the 5 window version that looked like a toy that got stomped.

Then, because my brother and I always having a soft spot for roadster pickups, a custom roadster pickup 1936 Ford version, was implemented with the later “Photographic Works” logo.

So, the progression of ideas goes back to So Cal coastal lifestyle and a 1936 Ford Sedan Delivery or Panel Van turned into a custom station wagon for the numerous beach road trips. With our experience of owning two 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery hot rods over time, we knew of our likes and dislikes.

So, this time customization is free and designs can flow for a better version of popular sedan deliveries… Only, this time the solid rear panels have become glass inserts and the body styles have changed somewhat.

A sedan delivery with glass windows for an all around better vision while driving. Old style scallops fill the style. It also has custom suicide doors for easier access to the seats, front and back.

Lowered sedan deliveries are just made for a slight rake to show some attitude… for those in the rear seats looking outward.

Now, the panel vans just give more room for stuff. But, the vision is still hindered like the sedan delivery hot rods. With larger panels in place. Those rear side panels were modified to insert glass for obvious better vision all around during the daily driving battles. Also, seats were in place instead of a simple empty cave. YRMV

  23. Thanks Dick, I'm glad it brought back such fond memories. I was inspired to sketch this quickly while at mass Thursday evening. The two kids, brother and sister, serving mass have a classic 'Norman Rockwell" look and the next thing to happen was this image popping in my mind. It may become a companion to this old rendering as I consider painting them on canvass! Next week, I'll try to share a couple other panels that will join them...

What a great show gang. I love my brother Jigger's soapbox images. I built a bunch of these at my Grandads lumber yard as a kid, always dreaming of a gas motor tied to one! Everyone deserves a "Gold Star" for their posts, Thanx!

  25. Thank you, everybody. Hope you all have a great Memorial day holiday!

Hey Mark, Thanks for the great memories:).

I remember my green Garton Kidillac leaning up against the garbage can on garbage-day after I had outgrown it...minus the wheels of course. Those wheels went on to live a second life as "coaster car" (2X4s & plywood). Those wheels went on to race (and crashed) down Dalmatian Drive...making me somewhat of a neighborhood legend:eek:

  27. What a great story. Man, to have that green Kidillac today though!

Thanks @sololobo Larry! You know... now that you mention it... That could
be you pulling the ropes on Ol' Lucky 13! Ha Ha!

I'm betting the wood block rear breaks were pretty sketchy at best.
