  11. Goodmoring and a great start, the F.A.S and coffee make Friday mornings Great! Here's a few sketches from Sam, (rusty1) that he did for me. My dad bought an HVAC company in 1962. The oldest truck was a 56 Chevy step side. But I LOVE old Dodge panels. Lol  So here's some junkyard Dodge deliverys. Thanks Rusty, I really like your Art.:) Ron..... 20190104_070514.jpeg 20190102_193907.jpeg 20190104_062617.jpeg

    Hello,

My brother and I wanted to build a coupe for the street and for the Gas Coupe/Sedan Class at Lions Dragstrip. His friend had a 34 Ford 5 window coupe with a big Olds motor and a 3 speed LaSalle transmission. So, my brother thought a 28-29 Model A coupe with a powerful SBC would be a good start and give the 34 Ford/Olds a run for the money. Bragging rights and all for teenagers was very important in 1957-60.

So, we found a worn out black Model A in a backyard near our Long Beach, CA house. We made it run with the 4 banger motor and had stuff ready to buy to start the build process.

During this time, we had fun for about a month or so. My brother came home one day and said he sold the Model A to a friend and bought a 1958 black Chevy Impala. That was going to be his daily driver, drag race car at Lions, and a big hit at the local drive in restaurant. This was in late 1957 when the new 58 models were on the showroom floors.

He was extremely happy with his 58 Impala. Even though he had his black 58 348 Chevy Impala, when we saw this red Model A coupe with the black wheels at Riverside Raceway, we immediately started talking about how our original Model A we got a few months ago would have looked. We both were in awe of this red Model A coupe. It just had “The LOOK” of a hot rod/drag racer for both, the dragstrip and being a daily driver.

In thinking back, my brother had the 58 Impala and was very happy with the results at the drags/street. (I was going to get my license in a year.) So, would the Model A that we were going to build, be my first hot rod for the street and dragstrip? One can wonder and think “what if” for years…

    From a previous post:
He wanted a Model A coupe that looked similar to ones we saw at Lions and at the late 1959 Riverside Raceway meet. This red Model A with its open headers made a sound that was chilling. It was the one we wanted to make for our dual purpose hot rod. It had the "look, sound, and attitude" of what we had talked about for weeks.

Later: A different look... No wonder we liked this coupe. It was a Model A coupe
    built by Joe Pisano.

Hamber @curbspeed has recently got his vintage Bonneville inspired Coupe on the road after an extensive well thought out build.

He was pondering wheel treatments and had these dark full aerodynamic covers that are fitting on Bonneville Racers. Personally I thought to dark and but then
thought perhaps a more complimentary coloured Cap might change my mind so I did that and a chrome version as well as a request to the white and I actually prefer both to the black firstly the white. Some still disapprove but I'm okay with them either way...

And what better way to set them off by being in Bonneville so I put it there...:D...okay enough motor mouth...the renders...;)
