Art & Inspiration ///////Friday Art Show 05-7-18-2018\\\\\\\

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jigger, May 17, 2018.

  1. Why was I absent last week? Well... I was a bit busy on top of this T-shirt design and the other one I’ll be posting. I did another one that is full of muscle cars. Maybe I’ll post it next week but may wait for a redesign as it became a bigger project that first conceived.

Some OT stuff but the stuffed hot rod sedan should help brig things around for this charity event art work... Sponsored by the Omaha Pontiac Owners club. The charity gives duffle bags to children entering into foster care with items for personal care, blankets a stuffed animal and activity books with colors.

Mark you took my vague idea and gave it life. Thanks so much. It's a great new logo and will look great on our shop shirts and t-shirts!

Hamber @rwrj has an ever evolving Vintage Speedster Pile O' Fun
build and one of his pics inspired this digital creation...

This Hotrod of sorts just had this Stance that reminded me of a Bulldog
and I was promptly told once I posted it that it was in fact a Terrier...:D

Do take the time to check out RW's most inspiring project which is nearing it's final
    stages of completion...

  15. Good morning, and a great Friday Art Show as always! I'm headed to the Jalopy showdown this morning. It's been moved to a new location this year. So I did a sketch of my delivery in front of the old flag man tower, at the Latimore fairgrounds. A lot of great memories from there.:) Thanks Ron.... 20180518_054335.jpg

    Hello,

There were several things that were on our list of drag race items to finish. We were still in the building and racing our 40 Willys 671 SBC coupe and enjoying the heck out of doing that. But, late at night, talking about future drag racing/building stuff always popped up in our teenage conversations. (My wife has always laughs and tells the stories about… "hot rods, drag racing, surfing stories” whenever my brother and I got together later on in life.) Ha!

We would stay up and tell what we would do for our next build or what class we want to invade… For him, it was an Altered coupe, like the Rasner/Reath or Ratican, Jackson, Stearns Fiat Coupes. For me, it was a Street Roadster powered by a Hemi similar to the Junior Thompson/Jim Cassidy, black A/SR, but it would be a pickup roadster, not a turtle back. We needed the extra room as we were growing teenagers leaving our Levis and t-shirts behind at a record pace. Plus, I wanted to be able to drive it cruising around our favorite Bixby Knolls hot spots.

Then one day my brother said he wanted to build a modified roadster for that class. He liked the one we always saw at Lions Dragstrip. It was like driving a dragster, except for a roadster body surrounding the driver. Obviously it was not for driving down the street or cruising the local drive-in parking lots.

The Ohno, Lew, Gonzalez A/MR 671 Oldsmobile powered, roadster was a stand out in the drag racing circles. We saw it at Lions and I just happened to have a short film of it racing. They were racing one of our A/Altered local favorites, the long wheelbase version of the Ratican, Jackson, Stearns A/Altered Fiat.

Luckily, our drag racing films satisfied our building needs after our incident at Lions. Plus, the surfing mantra was too strong to resist…
