  1. Not quite HAMB as usual but here's about the only recent thing I can show, it's a rendering for a guy who's building a 1971 Holden Torana with a huge inch big block

Guys! Guys! I almost missed the "Art Show" today. I was in the garage all day under the hood of my '63 Ford with a great mechanic, sorting out the wiring, examining spark plugs and trying to tame a too-big carburetor. So, after last Friday's art show, I started a new drawing, using Adobe Illustrator (only). It's a difficult, vector-based program that I've been trying to master since 1994 with v.1.1. So, enough words from me. Give me some feedback. I still need to "speed" up the background. . .

    [ewt2,

great start on this rendering, reminds me of some of the things we had to do at Art Center a long time ago; it requires an awful lot of concentration to produce a real clean pencil rendering, and very little room for error,I salute you. Hope it finishes as nice as it has started.

it's more than ok, man it's fuckin' great, keep up the good work and keep posting it . It is great to see something different and original to go along with all the traditional hot rod stuff we see here; it compliments the other artwork nicely, in my opinion[ which doesn't count ahell of a lot] ,

Now that I've posted a quickie, let me say:

"Stranger In Town" man, wish I could "hear" this painting too.

    "'65 426 Race Hemi" - can't get enough cross-sections. I have tubes full of Dave Kimball's.

"Kustom Kosmic Kowboy" If that's Wacom technique, do I see a hint of metalflake?!? WOW!

Britt8M, Can "hot dog girl" take a few steps this way or that?

Acrochicken, dig the chics, but seeing that bike at speed, storm clouds rollin in... extra WOW!

Palat, question: Is the '53 3D modelling or a Photoshop cut-out?

MindsEye, is your '56 Merc, like markers or Wacom? Impossible to tell anymore! (until I get to know ya'lls' styles)

WhateverWeber, Very believable deep, black, paint!

Clysdale, this art you do is so new to me; the cross with the skeleton couple, I stopped and stared for quite awhile.

ewt2, man, those black&whites are sweet and crisp. Film or digital?

Acrochicken, the slammed Imp is really well done (technically, too)

Buzznut, always enjoy seeing type-setting balanced with a car correctly (Rustmonkey Garage)

Squindo, man your style /technique is satisfying and unique.

57 Corvette ~ Bob, I'm new here too. You've photo'd some cars that'd be tough to not get right. It's the backgrounds that catch my eyes!

Bass! 3 days of block-sanding! I've been away from the spray booth too long. That's beautiful.

jjrodder, I like this technique in Photoshop, where I work backwards from a photo to find art.

Steve V, I had to stop and look up a '71 Holden Torana and your rendering is a killer revision!

fortypickup, tremendous, simple background. I kept waiting for a slide show to start up.

and all the pinstripers on H.A.M.B, men that's tremendous skill. And the sculpting is so far beyond me. Thanks for sharing G.A.N.G. Looks like Friday's over in just 30 minutes. Call it a day!

Hey Sambo, Thanks! ...and I wish I could say yes but that is not my work on the album cover. That would be a sweet gig to land!

  28. Damn, What a FAS! I tore up a knee, been pretty much out of it for a couple days, then I come here and............Wow!! You guys all rock, but Gary C., you're killin' me. That is awesome. All of you regular artistic geniuses just kill it, and the newbies are bringin' some heat. Thanks to all of you for putting this huge bright spot in a dreary week. :)

  29. Awesome work Palat, 3D is where I've been heading (but struggling)

Don't worry about it… just go with it. Several years from now when you can look back at this time of your life with 20/20 vision it will become clear to you… trust me.
