Has any had success with those headlight french in kits? Like to french mine on my '54 Chevy truck. I'm sure it'll require welding. Imagine the headlight goes behind everything in the bucket? Or am I better off going to the traditional route with studs and filling the rings?

on the 54 chevy car i took off the ring , unbolted the headlight bucket then flipped the clips over and bolted the bucket back on from the backside. thru the fender. welded the ring back on and done bodywork. 1852261-fe72b7fa1a9931466e14cd395817c482.jpg 1852262-2b5ee170e390805be0d0b8ed68edafbb.jpg 1852265-2006da713ef0018f1586fa067931cf67.jpg

  5. I worked for a Renault dealership for a time and everything about French headlights was a pain, but I get the distinct feeling you're talking about something else. o_O

    Good choice.

  8. Here are your Chevy Truck headlight rings welded to my Ford fenders and the clips flipped around and the buckets mounted from inside the wheel house as fastcarl explained. Works for me. I think I did my first one of these around 1967. This is one of my current drivers.
P1010355.JPG It's also an old photo of it.

  10. "Personal mental comment": If you have to buy a $300.oo Kit to French your headlights you must not have anything to start with and don't know what your doing. Deep tunneled headlights seldom both point strait forward and look like Nipples on a Whore. How did what's in my head just end up on the screen?

I used Hagen kits on the 42 Chevy I'm building for my daughter. I got the kit that has the painted ring instead of the chrome rings. I think they look ok, the kit with the chrome ring does look funny

I do have a Hagen kit someplace. The wife actually saw it at a swap meet that I had walked pass. She pointed it out and I went back and looked at it. I ended up buying it but it was dirt cheap. Figure if I didn't like it I could flip it for more money.

Not sure what I did with it now. My shop and storage is such a mess. I am pretty sure I still have it someplace. I brought it years ago and know I never used it and I don't remember selling it or trading it away. Car I considered to use it on never got finished, maybe it is stored inside that car?

But otherwise I always do it the way the others mentioned above.
